News !

Hello Everyone.

It's been a long time since my last entry in this Blog, though I did update once in a while my Facebook Page...

The reason is simple :
I committed myself in a big project — Arena Rex — specially with a model composed of 3 characters : Septimus (2 versions) and Nero.
And I promised myself to not write any new article here before those 3 were completed.

And I'm pleased to announce it : Septimus and Nero are finally completed !!!!!

It has been a real journey, with ups and downs, lot of mistakes, good and bad choices, but finally, I finished it and I'm proud of the result.

I have to thank Nick from Red Republic Game to have supported me and have been able to push and motivate me when the project of Septimus and Nero was really becoming hard and complicated for me.

I am going to write several articles concerning them with — as usual ;) — lot of pictures !

You also during this time may have seen my name implicated in other projects.
Indeed, since I was stuck with Septimus and Nero, other planned projects and needs of earning money became present and realistic.

Letting know Nick, while still working on Septimus and Nero, I did manage to work on few projects aside : projects for Skulls mini for their Brik-A-Brak project (here the Indigogo Campaign), specially the exclusive model for the Campaign Gob'Da, projects — Zaporavo and General Conan — for Conan (you know the little campaign that shacked Kickstarter... :D ), started a great model for Thundercloud Miniatures, and have several other projects ready to be started !

I also should have worked on a model for Infamy Miniatures, but we agreed with James to postponed the commission. Then I will sculpt another model for Infamy later this year.

And I'm also on Hroka of course ! ;)

So...
During the next weeks, I should be able to write new articles about models that were not shown yet here such as Lupa or Leo for AR, an old model created for Soda Pop...
I also will take the time to show lot of pics of Septimus and Nero, but the next article will be about Gob'Da, a master Goblin leading Skulls Mini Gob'Z'Heroes !

Go pledge on the Little Green Heroes !

Stay tuned !

Animals In Progress... Arena Rex Beasties !!!

Nero WIP - Arena Rex

Hello,

Today a simple and quick article about 2 WIPs concerning animals for Arena Rex : Nero, the Bull and Caho-Ta, the Horse !

Nero is a big — full of steroids I mean — Bull (or an Auroch ?) that can be mounted by Septimus.
In the game Arena Rex, he will be a character by himself, being played alone or with Septimus...

Hello,

Here is the art for Nero and Septimus from Red Republic Games :

I wasn't sure about the size and volume of Nero compared to Septimus, so I did suggest several other possibilities and we agreed with Nick about this final one, with a more impressive Nero :

Now, concerning Caho-Ta...
He is a Horse and is mounted by Hroka.
And as for Nero and Septimus, I suggested to change the size and volume of the animal...

(Maintenant, concernant Caho-Ta...

A Closer View Of A Gladiator : Details and Parts of Otho.

Arena Rex - Otho
Hi All !

Two posts in a week ! Wouah !
And it will continue, next one will be about The Toad, sculpted for Infamy Miniatures !
And more Lupa WIPs (remember the first episode ?) will follow... With some other Arena Rex WIPs !

But now, it's again all about Otho.
You have seen the full model in my last post.

Here I give you pictures of the different parts, and also some views of the full body without the Shield...
For you to see more details, more about his pose... more about him not hiding behind his (big) Scutum !
After all, he should not need it ! So shy the Big Man is !

I hope you will enjoy these pictures and appreciate the model differently, seing textures all over the sculpture, the details, the intensity I did put sculpting him...

Actually, this project - Otho - was very interesting...
It is a sculpture for a Fantasy game, yet the design, his own story are pretty very Historical.
So, I actually did try to have an approach (made some searches...) concerning his position, his items (Gladius, Sutum, Helmet, armors...) trully inspired from History when his anatomy, his size compared to the scale of the range were definitely Heroïc Fanstasy.

It has been a real new way of working, questioning myself, though intense and refreshing in the same time, mixing fantasy and accuracy !

Enjoy the pics !

Oh ! ...
... And for those interested, 2 new WIP pics at the end...

Will be back soon,
M.

Hello à Tous,

Deux posts en une semaine ! Wouah !

M.

A Big Fish... Uh !?... Gladiator ! Otho Salutes You !

Arena Rex - Otho
 Hello Everyone,

The last post on this blog was all about a WIP of a female gladiator for Arena Rex : Lupa.
Previously, here or somewhere else on internet, you may have seen several pictures of the WIP of another gladiator... Otho !
The very first model I have sculpted for Arena Rex !

And here, I present you the final sculpture of Otho !

He is pretty impressive — about 46 mm tall (top of head) when standing straight and naked — for a 35 mm (or about) range.
Standing on a base of 50 mm diamater, he should be a fierce adversary !

I already wrote about Arena Rex, how I was seduced by their project,  their professionalism, their management...
So, I just can say that I am really happy that other models will follow Otho !
You might want to have a look at the very end of (a long) list of pictures of Otho that follow this :) ...

I hope you will enjoy Otho !
Made in Fimo and Magic Sculp.
