This part will focus on the creation of the Face of The Rotten Clown.

...Once the Shape and Anatomy were satisfying enough, I focused on the Face.

My approach in sculpture, specially since I work tiny scales, is that certain things are very important in order to succeed in the search of quality :

– Whole shape of the miniature.

– Hands.

– Feet/Shoes.

– And the MOST important : the Head !

Cette partie va se focaliser sur la création du Visage du Rotten Clown.

...Une fois que La Silhouette et L'Anatomie étaient satisfaisantes, je me suis concentré sur le Visage.

Mon approche, en sculpture et spécialement puisque je travaille à petites échelles, est que certaines choses sont très importantes dans le but de réussir dans la recherche de la qualité :

– La Silhouette entière de la figurine.

– Les Mains.

– Les Pieds/Chaussures.

– Et le PLUS important : la Tête !

For this project, the model needed to stay "simple" for several reasons : timing, price... Yet, I want the miniature to be great and interesting !

So, my point was to work a Face that could suffice for wanting to have this miniature in hand !

(Other details of the sculpture will be nice too, don't worry ;) )

Keep in mind that the Face, at the end, will be about 5mm tall !

You had the description of the Face in the Part 1 of this series of articles.

After creating a very basic volume having the right balance with the anatomy (see the 2 last pictures of the Part 4), I traced guidelines : the eyes line et the middle (vertical).

It will help for the future volumes and details...

Pour ce projet, le modèle avait besoin de rester "simple" pour différentes raisons : le timing, le prix... Et je veux que la figurine soit marquante et intéressante !

Donc, mon idée était de travailler le Visage de sorte qu'il se suffise à lui-même pour vouloir avoir cette figurine en main !

(Les autres détails de la sculpture seront très bien aussi, pas d'inquiétude ;) )

Gardez en tête que le Visage, à la fin, ne fera qu'environ 5mm !

La description du Visage a été faite dans la Partie 1 de cette série d'articles.

Après avoir créé un volume très basique équilibré avec l'anatomie (voir les 2 dernières images de la Partie 4), j'ai tracé des guides sous forme de lignes : la ligne des yeux et le milieu (verticale).

Cela m'aidera pour les futurs volumes et détails...

Once done, I started to pose basic volumes of Fimo to symbolize part of the Face : nose, chin, etc...

I also carved it for eyes, mouth, etc...

These are very simple and only there to "feel" the direction I want to head to.

Une fois ces lignes faites, j'ai commencé par poser des volumes basiques de Fimo pour symboliser les parties du Visage : nez, menton, etc...

J'ai aussi creusé les yeux, la bouche, etc...

Ces volumes sont vraiment simples et ne sont là que pour "sentir" la direction que je veux prendre.

And then, from there, I started to really create the Scary Clown Face I was looking for...

Twisting the mouth, carving the cuts/scars, always searching for the "right feeling".

Puis, à partir de là, j'ai enfin commencé à créer Le Visage Effrayant du Clown que je voulais obtenir...

Déformant la bouche, gravant des coupures/cicatrices, toujours en cherchant le "bon feeling".

Then, I add a volume for the base of the Red Nose, the ear... and go on with the rest of the details, still looking for getting what I had in mind...

Puis, j'ajoute un volume pour la base du Nez Rouge, les oreilles... et je continue sur les autres détails, toujours pour obtenir ce que j'ai en tête...

From there, I go further in the details, the cuts, etc...

I worked only one side of the Face because I already knew that both sides would be pretty different, and I was also not completely sure of the result.

So, working this way was helping me to focus on the goal I had in mind.

À partir de là, j'avance plus en avant dans les détails, les coupures, etc...

Je n'ai travaillé qu'un seul côté du Visage car je savais déjà que les deux côtés seraient différents, et je n'étais pas complètement sûr du résultat.

Donc, travailler de cette façon m'aida à me concentrer sur le but que j'avais en tête.

I am pretty happy so far !

For a 5 mm head, it is working nicely... Well, working scary nicely ! ;)

So, I can focus on the other side and balance the whole thing then !

Je suis plutôt content jusque là !

Pour une tête mesurant 5 mm, ça marche plutôt bien... Enfin, ça marche effrayamment bien ! ;)

Alors, je peux me focaliser sur l'autre côté et équilibrer le tout !

I LOVE the little red hair (??) near the ear that looks like a vein ! :D

Not too bad and really scary and evil in the final look, exactly what I was looking for !

And it works also from distance ! ;)

J'ADORE le petit poil rouge (??) près de l'oreille qui ressemble à une veine ! :D

Pas si mal et vraiment effrayant et malsain dans son look final, exactement ce que je recherchais !

Et ça marche aussi à distance ! ;)

After this, small nails and few cleanings will come, still looking to improve it while working other details/areas.

That's the great things about this kind of polymer clay : you always can come back and modify it while it is not baked already.

Après ceci, de petits clous et plusieurs "nettoyages" et retouches viendront, cherchant toujours à l'améliorer pendant que je travaille sur d'autres détails/zones.

C'est la chose vraiment bien avec ce genre de pâte polymère : vous pouvez toujours revenir et modifier ce que vous voulez tant que ce n'est pas cuit.

Alors, vous la trouvez sympa ? Ou mieux encore, vous ne la trouvez pas sympa du tout ? ;)
